Brother Patrick, former Institute Director and Teacher, is no stranger to the Mid-Singles. Even though he has just returned from a mission to the Anchorage Alaska Mission he has Facebook and has kept up. He knows all too well that sometimes things just don't go as planned. We all start out like Adam and Eve, innocent, and wanting to be perfect. Then we mess up - just like Adam and Eve. We get tossed out! There is some kind of cursing and then the scripture says: "in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life." "Thorns also, and thistles shall it bring forth to thee, and thou shalt eat the herb of the field." The good news is that Adam and Eve learn the difference between good and evil. Eve notes: were it not for our transgression we never should have had seed, and never should have known good and evil and the joy of our redemption. The great blessing of the gospel is that we too like our first parents can learn in mortality and find great joy and happiness. Brother Patrick will help the Mid-Singles understand how God's love and how our love for one another is the key. We begin by learning to love ourselves. Learning to understand the doctrine of our divine nature with the love our Heavenly Father has for us sets us on a path where we can Reach Up and Reach out. Mid-Singles will be challenged to love and serve others as they learn how nothing of significance can happen without positive relationships. Relationships with God and with others bring meaning, purpose and the spirit in our lives.
